Recent audits have created problems for some of our clients that didn’t keep adequate mileage records. You need to keep a mileage log to substantiate the deductions you are entitled to take on your tax return. Most home business professionals can legitimately deduct 60% to 90% of all their mileage by simply keeping a log and following the mileage rules as outlined in our book Making Tax A Game. If you don’t take the time to maintain your mileage log you might as well throw a dollar bill out the window every two miles your drive since that’s what it’s costing you to not play the tax game and ultimately keep more of what you make. Remember…Tax Is A Game…Let’s Play to Win!
